Our Story

Baltimore, MD-based rock band Pearly Goats is the creative brainchild of lead singer / songwriter / guitarist Jay Schlosberg. Jay and longtime collaborator / bass player Paul Kelley formed Pearly Goats in 2011, hoping to scratch a hard itch and indulge in some of their heavier musical influences. Wilmer Berry Jr. was recruited as drummer in the fall of 2014 after the sudden death of founding drummer , Sam Holden. The Electric Beard of Doom says about the Pearly Goats: "Their latest album,Pearly Goats II  is a fucking heavy blues bonanza! Really killer stuff y'all... dig on it! "

Jay and Paul played indie rock and sometimes  bluegrass music for most of their musical career in the form of the bands Frankentractor (1990 to 2009 ) and The Corn Colonels  (2010- 2012 ).
When they were putting together their next band, they began to write music influenced by both genres plus their love of heavy rock. Jay and Paul found a fellow traveler in the form of veteran skin abuser Sam Holden. With Sam as their drummer, they produced two full-length CD's (Pearly Goats and Pearly Goats II) and created 8 videos which can be seen on YouTube via their "From the Shed " channel. They gigged mainly in the Baltimore area and were starting to set up dates outside of Baltimore  when Sam suddenly passed away at the young age of 44.

After Jay and Paul recovered from the loss of their dear friend, they asked another longtime Baltimore rock drummer Wilmer Berry,Jr. to join them in their musical adventure. Will played  with Baltimore rockers Circle 9 and Doom Cookie for about 15 years and became an official Goat in the fall of 2014.  Since then the band has been gigging locally again and was the opening act at the Moving the Earth Festival III.

Currently the band is working on their 3rd full length CD, recording at "The Shed " in Granite MD and booking shows locally .
